This group covers the non-Asian restaurants, cafes, bars and food businesses that also appear in a mixed-cuisine food scene, including American diners, pizza, Mexican food, burgers, steakhouses and bakeries. Standard US restaurant norms apply: lunch and dinner service with a quieter stretch between, cards and tap-to-pay accepted almost everywhere, and a tip of 15-20% customary for table service. Fast food and quick-service counters expect payment up front and tipping is optional. Bars check ID for anyone who looks under 30, and the drinking age is 21 nationwide. Many restaurants in this group take reservations online through third-party platforms, while casual and fast-food spots are walk-in only. Sales tax is added at the register on top of the menu price and varies by city and state, so the final total is usually a few percent higher than the posted prices suggest.

Jersey City is in New Jersey, in the Northeast, where four distinct seasons shape local life: hot humid summers, snowy winters that can close businesses for a day, and a dense pattern of towns where walking, transit and street parking all matter. US addresses list the street number and name, then the city, state abbreviation and ZIP code, and Jersey City follows the same pattern; a suite or apartment number such as Ste 200 refers to a unit inside the building. The map link on this page shows the exact spot.

The service at Shoo Loong Kan was genuinely impressive from start to finish. Our server was attentive without hovering, and everything came out smoothly with great timing, which made the whole meal feel easy and well taken care of. Every dish we ordered had big flavor and came out fresh and hot, with the spicy broth and tender meats being real standouts. The ingredients tasted high quality, and it was the kind of meal where you keep reaching for one more bite because everything is so good. The whole place had such a stylish, eye-catching look that it felt almost too pretty not to take a few photos. Between the glowing setup, the beautifully plated food, and the lively atmosphere, it was definitely one of those spots that feels special the moment you walk in. The team clearly knew what they were doing and handled everything with confidence and ease. They answered questions quickly, gave helpful recommendations, and made the whole experience feel polished and seamless.

As a Beijing girl, finding old-school sesame mala tang with handmade noodles in Jersey City made my day. No more trips to Flushing. ⭐ Get the handmade noodles. Mixed with that thick sesame-peanut sauce, they’re so good. ⭐ Comes with meat, vegetables, mushrooms, tofu skin, potato slices, and meatballs. ⚠️ Spice level can’t be adjusted. My husband was sweating after two bites. I loved it. The sauce is the star here—thick, nutty, and coats every noodle perfectly. For $19.99, this is one of the most satisfying solo meals I’ve had in a while. I’ve already eaten it twice this week.

As a person who lived in Chongqing for 5 years, I can prove this place is an authentic chongqing hot pot, very good place and food, as well as the service. If you are a person who likes spicy food, this is a must-go place, if you can’t take spicy food, please try their new Slow-Simmered Chicken & Pork Tripe Broth (Hot Pot Base), tastes really good!

I recently visited Shoo Loong Kan in Jersey City for a Lunar New Year gathering and had such a great experience. The restaurant is spacious, clean, and beautifully decorated with red lanterns, which made it feel extra festive. We tried the new pork tripe and chicken broth, and it was surprisingly rich and flavorful. The broth is slow-cooked and you can really taste the depth. The tripe was fresh and tender, and the pepper added a nice aroma without being overpowering. I also highly recommend the marinated tofu, bamboo shrimp paste, and hand-pulled noodles, they pair perfectly with the tomato or clear broth. The crispy pork strips were thick, juicy, and super satisfying. Overall, a comforting and delicious hot pot spot in JC. Great quality ingredients and a warm atmosphere, definitely coming back!

It is a great hot pot spot with plenty of options for everyone. The spicy broth is flavorful and you can adjust the spice level, which is a big plus. If you don’t want spicy food, they also offer tomato and mushroom soup bases. There’s a wide selection of dipping sauces, plus free ice jelly and ice cream, which is a nice bonus. Great place for group dining and will definitely come back.
